The motion
That this House recognises the case of Lesley Anne Steele who two years ago was sexually assaulted by her driving instructor; notes with concern that the instructor was successfully prosecuted and placed on the sex offenders register but continued to operate as an instructor; welcomes the news that since March 2007 eight approved driving instructors (ADI) have been removed from the ADI register as a result of criminal records checks revealing a conviction for a sexual offence; expresses concern that promises to close the loophole preventing the ADI registrar from suspending instructors convicted of a sexual offence has not been implemented; and urges the Government to do so immediately.
