SCREENING FOR ABDOMINAL AORTIC ANEURYSMS (No. 2)

That this House supports the Circulation Foundation's efforts to raise awareness of the planned national screening programme for abdominal aortic aneurysms; recognises that work is being carried out to support the establishment of a nationwide screening programme; notes that abdominal aortic aneurysms are the third most common cause of death for males aged over 65 and that each year nearly 7,000 people, almost all of them men, die suddenly and without symptoms; and urges Government to announce a firm timetable for the programme's introduction.
