FOOTBALL IN THE UK

That this House recognises the massive disparities in wealth which exist within professional football in the United Kingdom; is deeply concerned at the continuing commercial interest in and speculation from a number of billionaires about a number of the top clubs; is deeply concerned about the obscene salaries currently being paid to some of those at the very top of their playing career; and expresses the hope that the range of supporters' trusts and the establishment of Supporters Direct will bring forward the day when football is supported, followed and run by those fans and local business people with a genuine interest in promoting football.
