The motion
That this House expresses its concern at any attempt to replace the Employers' Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Regulations 1998, which mandate the retention by employers of insurance certificates for no less than 40 years, with a lesser or otherwise non-enforceable Government guideline, which would adversely affect the interests of constituents who develop medical or other complications as a result of working under an employer's care, where that complication takes a significant time to develop and expose itself, with asbestos-related mesothelioma being of particular concern; and calls for the Government to discuss the maintenance of a database of insurance records for employers, with the insurance industry, to assist employees who find themselves in this position.
