EQUITABLE LIFE (No. 2)

That this House deplores the fact that the Government's response to the Ombudsman's report on Equitable Life will not be published until 2009; notes that this delay represents a failure to meet the commitment made by the Prime Minister in response to the hon. Member for Shrewsbury in the debate on the Queen's Speech on 3 December 2008, Official Report, column 38, that there would be a statement before the House rises at Christmas; considers that the Prime Minister and other Ministers should ensure, when they make such commitments, that they are adhered to; and is deeply concerned that the Prime Minister cannot fulfil the most basic of promises to the House.
