RECOGNITION OF DYSLEXIA

The motion

That this House notes that dyslexia is estimated to occur in eight per cent. of the population; further notes the comments of the hon. Member for Manchester, Blackley concluding that dyslexia does not exist; assures the British Dyslexia Association that such views are not shared throughout the House; further notes the work that the British Dyslexia Association does to help people with dyslexia by promoting a dyslexia-friendly society; and supports the Association's work in attempting to identify dyslexia as early as possible in the school environment resulting in ongoing support for individuals who may otherwise be held back by dyslexia.
