The motion
That this House notes that bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer and that more than 36,500 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year; recognises that early detection and effective treatment of bowel cancer could save 90 per cent. of those people diagnosed; congratulates Beating Bowel Cancer on its Be Loud! Be Clear! campaign and the charity's 10th anniversary; further recognises its ongoing crucial work to improve disease awareness, as well as to support bowel cancer patients and their families; welcomes the publication of the charity's report, Turn up the Noise on Bowel Cancer, which highlights Government progress towards meeting the charity's Bowel Cancer Challenge for improving bowel cancer services by 2012; and calls on the Government to work with the charity to continue to improve public awareness, extend the bowel cancer screening programme and monitor uptake, ensure that clinically effective treatments are available at the right time and in the right setting for all patients, and recognise the value in prolonging quality of life for bowel cancer patients and their families.
