UK COAL INDUSTRY

That this House is deeply concerned about the economic and environmental impact of the importation of 43,365,000 tonnes of coal into the UK last year from Indonesia, South Africa, Australia, Colombia, Russia, China and other far off places; notes that this makes climate change worse; and, while understanding the requirement for different types of coal and to burn coal as cleanly as possible, calls on the Government to review its coal strategy with a view to investing wherever possible in production and jobs in the UK coal industry.
