EFFECTS OF UNEMPLOYMENT

That this House is deeply concerned by the latest figures on unemployment; notes that unemployment has a devastating effect not only on families, but in certain cases, whole communities that are involved in and affected by job cuts; is further concerned that a number of large employers have expressed plans further to reduce staff numbers; and calls on the Government to do all it can to work with companies to try to reduce the number of planned redundancies, to support the families and communities affected by job cuts and to improve funding for training opportunities for the UK's young people.
