The motion
That this House commends the bravery and courage of author Sir Terry Pratchett for being prepared to share his on-going battle with Alzheimer's disease and in allowing cameras to capture this battle in such an open and powerful way; hopes that this provides an opportunity for as wide an audience as possible to recognise and understand the terrible toll that attempting to cope with Alzheimer's disease has on those who suffer from it and their families; notes that for every person with Alzheimer's disease £11 is spent each year on UK research compared with £289 for each cancer patient; and further hopes that there will now be a further commitment to tackle Alzheimer's disease and in particular to commit more resources to research and understanding of this terrible condition.
