AFGHANISTAN TROOP SURGE

That this House recalls that the surge of an extra 5,000 British soldiers in Helmand province in 2006 resulted in a surge of Taliban activity and an increase in British fatalities from seven to 143; believes that another surge could lead to further British deaths; and calls for the adoption of a peace strategy in Afghanistan.
