DISPOSAL OF NEEDLES BY DIABETICS

Tabled by Keith Vaz (Labour) 41 signatures

The motion

That this House notes with concern the difficulties diabetics have disposing of the 900 million needles used each year to inject insulin; identifies the inconvenience and expense associated with council collections of used needles; further notes the lack of a nationwide policy on the safe disposal of diabetes needles; condemns the fact that some pharmacies only accept needles from users of illicit drugs; and calls on the Government to legislate to ensure that GPs and pharmacies accept used needles from diabetics.
