The motion
That this House notes that the BBC has recently decided to reduce the coverage of horseracing in its programming, despite the fact that more than 100,000 of its customers have already signed a petition against such a strategy; reminds the Corporation that the sport employs directly or indirectly more than 150,000 people, enjoys the support of millions more and is currently responsible annually for the generation of a large amount of money which finds its way into HM Treasury coffers; and calls on the Government to remind those in charge of the Corporation that a major part of their task is to champion the interests of licence fee payers, which in this instance they are not.
