CARER'S ALLOWANCE (No. 2)

That this House notes that carer's allowance at £53.10 per week is among the lowest of earnings replacement benefits; calls on the Government to make an urgent increase to initially bring it more in line with other earnings replacements benefits; and further calls for a wider review to address the position of benefits for carers generally, and in particular the position of pensioners with regard to the overlapping rule between carer's allowance and state retirement pension.
