DAY OF THE AFRICAN CHILD

That this House welcomes the Day of the African Child on 16 June 2009; notes with deep sadness that in the world's poorest countries 9.2 million children every year die before their fifth birthday; congratulates Save the Children on its efforts to raise awareness of this issue; and urges the Government to fulfil its obligation to sustainably reduce poverty and seek solutions to health problems in third world countries.
