INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF NATURAL FIBRES 2009

The motion

That this House recognises this year as International Year of Natural Fibres (IYNF) as organised by the United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO); notes that the IYNF celebrates the 15 natural fibres produced by plants and animals namely, cotton, wool, cashmere, angora, alpaca, silk, hemp, jute, flax, mohair, camel hair, ramie, sisal, coir and abaca; further recognises the importance of certain natural fibres to the British textile sector; and calls on the Government to offer whatever assistance, financial or otherwise, it can to support the FAO's activities to promote and protect international natural fibres.
