INCIDENCE OF PRE-DIABETES

The motion
That this House notes with concern that an estimated seven million people in the UK have pre-diabetes, a condition that leaves people with high blood glucose levels 15 times more likely to develop diabetes; further notes that a total of 2.6 million people in the UK have been diagnosed with diabetes; states that in the past year alone 145,000 new cases of diabetes have been recorded; congratulates Diabetes UK for its work in raising awareness of diabetes; and calls on the Government to increase its efforts to raise public awareness of diabetes and the ways in which it can be prevented.
