ECO FISHING BOAT DESIGN

That this House recognises the importance of all forms of sea fishing to the economy; praises Classic Boat magazine for launching a competition to design an eco fishing boat of maximum length of 32 feet, 10 inches, or 10 metres, that would not rely on mechanical propulsion but instead use oar and sail, basing the design criteria on an EU exemption from holding a fishery licence that exists for under 10 metre boats that do not have an engine to propel them, whilst still adhering to minimum landing sizes intended to produce a sustainable fishery; and looks with interest as to how this design project may develop.
