DECLINING OIL RESERVES IN YEMEN

The motion
That this House is concerned that diminishing supplies of oil in Yemen will have devastating effects on the economy of the country; notes that 75 per cent. of government revenue and 90 per cent. of export money comes from oil; further notes that 15.7 per cent. of people in Yemen live on less than £0.61 a day and the average gross domestic product per capita is only £540 a year; expresses concern that the unemployment rate stands at 35 per cent.; further expresses fears that decreasing oil supplies will cause more oil factories to close, increasing unemployment levels; and calls on the Government to work alongside the Yemeni government to ensure that the ongoing development of the country is not adversely impacted on due to declining oil reserves.
