The motion
That this House notes with regret that the names of those from Edgware and Burnt Oak who gave their lives in defence of this country and freedom in the Second World War are not commemorated on the Edgware War Memorial, or any other memorial; further notes that the hon. Member for Hendon first raised this with Barnet Council and the right hon. Member for Harrow East raised the issue with Conservative Harrow Council in January 2007, urging that the omission should be rectified, that the hon. Member for Hendon supplied Barnet Council with the list of names of the fallen in March 2007, that the Conservative Chair of Hendon Area Forum, Councillor Brian Gordon, agreed to take the issue up, but nothing happened, and that the hon. Member for Hendon raised the issue with the Conservative Greater London Authority member, Tony Arbour, the member responsible for the Greater London Authority reviews of war memorials in March 2009, to which no reply was received; and urges Barnet and Harrow Councils, with the Greater London Authority, to take urgent steps to rectify this appalling omission so as to ensure that the fallen of Edgware and Burnt Oak are never forgotten.
