INDEPENDENT NEWSAGENTS

The motion

That this House supports the thousands of independent newsagents providing valuable services to local communities; is concerned that the future of independent newsagents is now at riskfollowing the abolition of the National Newspapers Code of Practice on 20 October 2009; and calls on the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills to make an urgent referralof the news industry to the Competition Commission for a full market investigation.
