ROLE OF BRITISH TROOPS IN AFGHANISTAN (No. 2)

The motion
That this House is appalled by the provocative statement by Lieutenant-General Sir Graeme Lamb, special advisor to Stanley McChrystal, United States General in charge of US policy in Afghanistan, who said in an interview in the London Evening Standard on 2 December 2009 that the increased allied troops being deployed to Afghanistan will strike the Taliban `until their eyeballs bleed'; and believes that such threats against the sons of tribespeople and farmers are totally unacceptable and can do nothing but worsen the chances of any long-term positive prospects for that country and thus a much-needed withdrawal of troops.
