WORLD HUNGER

That this House notes over one billion people in the world are in hunger; further notes that last year a further 100 million people went into hunger due to high food prices and falling incomes; welcomes the fact that at the November World Food Summit 191 states reinforced their commitment to Millennium Development Goal 1 to halve the number of hungry by 2015; and further welcomes the G8's commitment to spending $20 billion over the next three years to increase agricultural productivity and tackle hunger.
