SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR IN SHEFFIELD

That this House congratulates the BBC for holding the Sports Personality of the Year Awards outside of London for the third year running; welcomes the event to Sheffield Arena; recognises that it is particularly appropriate to hold it in Sheffield because of the city's foresight and commitment in developing the most comprehensive set of world class sporting facilities in the UK and in providing quality training opportunities for many of the UK's most successful sportsmen and women over the last 20 years; recognises that Sheffield is the home city of so many of the UK's top sports personalities including Lord Sebastian Coe, Chairman of the London 2012 Olympic Games Organising Committee and Olympic Medal winner Jessica Ennis.
