WEST YORKSHIRE BUS CONTRACTS

The motion

after `years'; insert `regrets however that this all-party consensus does not exist at parliamentary level since the Conservative Opposition asserts that deregulation has worked and is pledged to repeal the Government's legislation enabling Quality Bus Contracts; believes bus regulation introduced by the Conservative Government in 1986 has been a disaster for West Yorkshire and most other areas other than London by enabling private operators to make profits while providing reduced, unreliable and inadequate services; welcomes the Local Transport Act 2008 provisions making Bus Quality contracts a practicable option for integrated transport authorities to pursue;'.
