CLOSURE OF THE HACKNEY EMPIRE

That this House notes that the lights went dark on the Hackney Empire main stage on 7 February 2010; appreciates the stellar, artistic reputation of the theatre, as well as its notable track record in staging a diverse range of theatre; commends the work conducted by the Hackney Empire within local schools and its continued dedication to youth education projects such as the Artist Development Programme; and urges all those involved with the Hackney Empire to do everything in their power to ensure the reopening of this historic former music hall.
