CROWN ESTATE DISPOSAL OF RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES

The motion
That this House notes the expressed intention of the Crown Estate to sell off residential properties around Victoria Park, Millbank, Cumberland Market and Lee Green in the Greater London area; further notes that the Crown Estate has provided no guarantees to residents of those properties that future owners would not significantly raise rents for tenants in the majority of those properties and service charges for leaseholders in a minority of those properties, nor that they would preserve existing security of tenure or continue to prioritise provision to key workers such as teachers, health and transport workers, firefighters, police officers and other workers whose services are essential to local communities which would ensure the continuation of existing thriving communities in Crown Estate properties, which embody a rich social mix; and opposes the sell-off of those residential properties by the Crown Estate.
