CONSTITUTIONAL REFORM AND RELATIONS WITH THE DEVOLVED ADMINISTRATIONS

Tabled by Lord Murphy of Torfaen (Labour) 53 signatures

The motion

That this House regrets the Deputy Prime Minister's failure to consult the devolved administrations on his constitutional and political reforms; notes that the proposed reforms wouldhave serious consequences for the dates of the elections to the Welsh Assembly, the Scottish Parliament and the Northern Ireland Assembly, and on the composition of these bodies; and calls on the Deputy Prime Minister to activate the machinery of the British-Irish Council and the Joint Ministerial Conference, to discuss these important issues and to reconsider the proposals if the devolved administrations raise significant concerns.
