WOMEN PERFORMERS

That this House regrets that many women performers still face gender inequality; notes with concern that the opportunities in the number and variety of roles available to female performers are limited compared tothose available to their male counterparts, that male performers have longer careers than women performers, and that women are over-represented in the lowest income group of performers, and under-represented in the highest; further regrets that this has an impact on the public image and conceptions of the female gender and women's role in society; and therefore urges the Government, broadcasters and producers to take action to ensure equal opportunities for female performers so that real livesof real women are reflected on stage and screen.
