PARKING CONTROL LTD

The motion

That this House deplores the actions of Manchester-based company Parking Control Ltd in charging a Blue Badge holder 275 for parking on a petrol station forecourt in Hull; notes that this included 150 for calling a tow truck that did not arrive; is concerned that the company left a severely-ill man waiting for over an hour in freezing weather in order to elicit the extra towing fee; is aware that the company has repeatedly failed to respond to letters and telephone calls over several months; and calls on the Government to urgently bring forward the measures outlined in the Crime and Security Act 2010 to introduce a compulsory licensing scheme for all wheel clamping businesses, limit the size of penalties imposed, regulate towing practices and put in place an effective and fair appeals process.
