The motion
That this House notes that Sheffield has a population of 547,000 and 84 councillors; further notes that Nottingham City has a population of 300,800 and 55 councillors; also notes with concern that Nottinghamshire has a population of 776,600 but 382 councillors, almost six times as many; further notes that many councillors of all political colours are both district and county councillors; believes that having dual councils unnecessarily and expensively duplicates senior jobs; and calls on the eight councils in Nottinghamshire to be replaced with two unitary authorities.
