The motion
That this House notes with concern the diminished rights of British people who work as lettori in Italian universities; condemns the nationality-based discrimination that leads to foreign lecturers receiving low salaries and being denied promotions; acknowledges that foreign lecturers in Italy have previously petitioned the European Court of Justice, which ruled that Italy was infringing its obligations; further notes that some universities have been ordered to pay arrears; and urges the Government to actively support British citizens working in Europe.
