INCIDENCE OF DIABETES

That this House notes with concern that the number of adult diabetics in the UK has soared by six per cent. since 2009 to 2.8 million; further notes that one in 10 adults are now being treated for obesity and that there is a high prevalence of Type 2 diabetes in those overweight or obese; recognises the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle to prevent the condition; and calls on the Government to work with diabetes charities and health professionals to raise awareness and prevent further increases in the number of sufferers.
