The motion

That this House recognises the need to support and develop entrepreneurial potential within groups disproportionately affected by the recession especially among groups which are currently under-represented in entrepreneurship, including young people, women and in particular Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups; supports the work of third sector organisations championing these causes; endorses Women's Enterprise Day on 17 November 2010; notes the importance of the event in helping more women in particular to set up their own businesses; is concerned that more than twice as many men start businesses as women in the UK; is further concerned that young people aged between 18 and 24 years have the lowest levels of entrepreneurial activity in the UK, being half the rate of young people in the US; and calls on the Government to support entrepreneurs, start-ups and small business leaders from all backgrounds to help drive the enterprise-led recovery in the UK and ensure that they fully develop their entrepreneurial potential.
