A. P. MCCOY AND BBC SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR

That this House believes that A. P. (Tony) McCoy is a very strong and worthy contender to receive the 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award; further believes that this accolade is long due to him in particular recognition of his unsurpassed achievements within the sport, including the riding of over 3,000 winners; further believes that this achievement was further enhanced by his riding of the 2010 Grand National winner and notes his wider contribution to horse racing; recognises that his achievements have been accomplished in a dangerous sport, and that he himself has sustained many injuries in his pursuit of excellence; notes his modest and genial approach; and further believes that there could not be a more deserving recipient of this award.
