OBESITY AND DIABETES

That this House notes with concern that the UK is one of the unhealthiest nations in Europe according to the OECD Health at a Glance report; further notes that the UK, with an average of 24.5 per cent. adult obesity, has the highest level of obesity in the EU; recognises that there is a high prevalence of Type 2 diabetes in those overweight or obese and that 2.8 million adults in the UK suffer from diabetes;urges the Government to recognise the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle to prevent the condition; and calls on the Government to provide more information about obesity and its related illnesses such as diabetes.
