TAXPAYERS' ALLIANCE AND TAX AVOIDANCE
Tabled by John Pugh (Liberal Democrat)

The motion
That this House notes the organised efforts of citizens to draw attention to tax avoidance behaviour by corporate bodies; believes that no person or corporate body advantaged by location in the UK should, by seeking loopholes or by convoluted means, endeavour to avoid paying their allotted tax share; and regrets that the Taxpayers' Alliance hascriticised such peaceful protests and has thus given succour to the view that concern over tax rates is sufficient moral justification to engage in tax avoidance, thereby potentially rendering the branding of the Taxpayers' Alliance a misnomer.
