Tabled by Lord Mann (Labour) 14 signatures

The motion

That this House recognises the role played by survivors' groups, such as Survivors Helping Each Otherin Nottinghamshire; further recognises that such groups help the victims of sexual abuse during childhood come to terms with the ordeals of their past with survivor support and better prepare themselves for their future through mentoring, training and literary and numeracy programmes; supports the work done by volunteers in such organisations; believes that maintaining local authority funding to such voluntary programmes is cost-effective; notes that without such schemes victims of childhood sexual abuse will be forced into more stretched and expensive trauma programmes run by the NHS; and calls on the Government to ensure that voluntary organisations supporting the victims of childhood sexual abuse will still receive sufficient funding.
