OFCOM REPORT ON THE PROPOSED TAKEOVER OF BSKYB

That this House believes open and transparent mechanisms should wherever possible be adopted by Government whenever it authorises investigations to be undertaken in the public interest; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport to immediately make public the findings of Ofcom's report into News Corporation's recent bid for the remaining 61 per cent. of shares in BSkyB that it does not currently own, and thereafter to refer the matter to the Competition Commission to ensure proper and impartial scrutiny of all connected matters.
