NATIONAL TINNITUS WEEK

Tabled by Lord Bruce of Bennachie (Liberal Democrat) 35 signatures

The motion

That this House supports National Tinnitus Week, which began on 7 February 2011; commends the continued work of the British Tinnitus Association in raising awareness and its sustained research into this condition; is concerned that nearly 10 per cent. of the population suffers from tinnitus in some form, which can cause pain, stress, disturbed sleep patterns and behavioural changes to its sufferers; notes that incidents are on the rise, linking hearing damage to personal music players; and calls on the Government to help raise awareness of tinnitus amongst GPs.
