CAMPAIGN TO SAVE LEVENSHULME BATHS

That this House condemns the decision by Labour-run Manchester City Council to close Levenshulme Baths; notes that this facility, which is also available for other community use, recently underwent 200,000 improvements and that the unnecessary closure would only save 73,000 revenue spending in the first year; further notes that over the last two years the Labour-led council wasted 150,000 on sculptures outside the City Council offices and spent 300,000 on a parade, whilst sitting on reserves of over 100 million; believes that the Labour Councillors in Manchester are playing politics with public services; and welcomes plans by the Liberal Democrat opposition on the Council to bring forward plans to save Levenshulme Baths and other frontline services from closure.
