AID TO YEMEN

The motion

<p style="margin: 0mm 0mm 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">That this House welcomes the announcement by the Secretary of State for International Development, that the Government will increase aid to Yemen from 46.7 million to 76 million a year until 2015; notes that Yemen is the poorest nation in the Middle East; further notes that the Yemeni government is combating the growth of al-Qaeda within the country at a time of mass unrest in the Arab world; calls on the Government to continue to develop bilateral relations with Yemen to strengthen its fragile state; and urges the Government to work with the Yemeni government to develop an action plan for improving the economic situation in Yemen and combating terrorism.</font></p>
