DAIRY FARMERS AND THE NATIONAL FARMERS UNION STANDARD MILK CONTRACT

That this House notes that dairy farmers in Morecambe and Lunesdale and across the UK are in many cases falling foul of unreasonable contracts; further notes that legislation is in place to eliminate such practice; further notes that the National Farmers' Union standard contract would form a good basis for a standard contract; further notes that the price of milk is currently dictated by supermarkets and processors; and calls on the Government to draw up a contractual code of practice to ensure farmers know the price for which they will be selling their milk prior to milk leaving the farm.
