The motion
That this House recognises the need for families to be able to eat together more often; notes the health, learning and social benefits that family mealtimes can bring, including the early findings of the Economic and Social Research Council Understanding Society study pointing to the importance of family meals for children; further notes recent research that shows the difficulties that families have eating together; congratulates the recent Power Down for Dinner campaign launched to encourage mealtimes spent as a family and a decrease in mealtimes spent using technology and television; and urges a more family-friendly House and encourages individual hon. Members to allow for more time to be spent with their families at mealtimes.
