COMIC RELIEF IN THE NORTH WEST

That this House notes that the BBC's annual Comic Relief event raised over 59 million for charities in 2009; further notes thata significant proportion of this was raised in the North West; believes that North West Tonight and the BBC local radio stations including Radio Lancashire are to be commended for their efforts; further believes that this event is particularly poignant to the people of Morecambe and Lunesdale because of their entertainment and comic history, including the work of Eric Morecambe and Dame Thora Hird; thanks the BBC staff for being so generous with their time; and encourages everyone to donate money to this important cause.
