The motion
That this House notes the Annual Review of the Football Foundation and commends the work it has done over the last 10 years in improving community sports facilities at grassroots level; further notes that the Premier League had a total income of 1.037 billion in 2009-10 of which only 15 million, 1.5 per cent. of this total income, was contributed to the Football Foundation; and believes that, at a time when grassroots sports facilities are being cut back as part of spending cuts, there is a compelling case for a levy being imposed on Premier League television income, with the proceeds being ring-fenced and administered by the Football Foundation and Sport England for the benefit of preserving and improving grassroots sports facilities.
