BAHÁ'Í COMMUNITY IN IRAN

Tabled by Robert Halfon (Conservative) 34 signatures

The motion

That this House notes that the Bah's are Iran's largest religious minority, with over 300,000 believers, who have for 30 years suffered a state-sponsored campaign of persecution; further notes that under the Iranian regime hundreds of Bah's have been executed, thousands tortured and imprisoned and the rest denied homes, livelihoods or educations; therefore calls on Iran to release the seven Bah' leaders, who have suffered nearly three years of unjust incarceration and a sham trial with a lack of due process; further calls on Iran to safeguard the rights of all its Bah' citizens; and finally calls on the Government to continue to fight against the human rights violations of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
