SUCCESS OF THE MERSEY TIGERS BASKETBALL TEAM

That this House warmly congratulates the Mersey Tigers basketball team on winning the British Basketball League (BBL) title; notes that the Tigers also won the BBL Trophy at the O2 Arena in March 2011 and are in contention to retain the BBL Playoff Trophy; further notes that basketball is an increasingly popular sport for families to enjoy; and expresses great pleasure that the British Basketball Team, which has members of the Mersey Tigers in its ranks, will be participating in the 2012 London Olympics, which will provide an excellent platform for the sport to further increase its appeal and support.
