COUNCIL TAX SETTLEMENT AT LANCASTER CITY COUNCIL

That this House notes that at a meeting of Lancaster City Council on 23 May 2011 Conservative councillors unsuccessfully fought for a commitment not to raise council tax during the present four-year cycle; further notes that in these difficult times hard-working families can ill afford tax hikes; believes that council tax is already far too high; calls on the leadership of Lancaster CityCouncil to reverse this highly damaging commitment to tax rises; and applauds those councillors who voted against it.
