EVENTS AT WINTERBOURNE VIEW

That this House deplores the abuse of vulnerable patients at Winterbourne View, as revealed on BBC's Panorama programme on 31 May 2011; calls on the Government to allow the Care Quality Commission to make more frequent and unannounced inspection visits to care homes; and further calls on the Government to provide a more thorough training and qualification system for care workers, to oblige the Care Quality Commission to investigate all claims of improper conduct or other failings in care homes immediately and to ensure that the Care Quality Commission has the power and sufficient means to fulfill their obligations.
